PUBLIC ADA LIBRARY ENHANCEMENTS
Topic: Ada
As a result of suggestions for improvements to the Public Ada Library
(PAL) received at the Tri-Ada '97 Conference, Richard Conn, manager of the
PAL, has modified the programs which create the PAL Card Catalog entries
to include date/time stamps with the directory displays of all files.
All PAL Card Catalog entries now show the size and date/time (of last
update) of every file.
This will help users determine more easily if updates have been made to
assets of particular interest. The PAL Card Catalog entires for all 600+
assets have been updated.
The new format may be viewed at the Washington University archive:

INTEROPERATION OF ADA AND JAVA
Topic: Ada
In the December 1997 issue of Crosstalk, the topic of Ada/Java
interoperation in distributed systems using ADEPT is discussed. The
Advanced Distributed Engineering and Programming Toolset (ADEPT) was
originally developed as a tool to build distributed systems using the
GNAT Ada compiler.
Based on this work, the interoperation of Ada and Java using distributed
or remote objects is being explored as a means to capitalize on the
complimentary advantages of the two languages to develop a new generation
of distributed systems.
