ADA 95 EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES INCREASE WITH MARKET
Topic: Ada

The Ada market has experienced a very positive 1997 and the coming year
should witness a similar positive trend. Paul Morris Personnel, a
company that specializes in tracking Ada jobs, has identified 38 projects
among 30 employers seeking Ada 95 developers. From Atlanta to Las
Vegas, Ada 95 is proving to play an integral part in the broader
object-oriented programming languages market.

For more information about Ada jobs, contact the Ada Information
Clearinghouse at: 800/232-4211, <mailto:adainfo@sw-eng.falls-church.va.us>.

SOFTWARE REUSE COST-CUTTING WITH CORBA
Topic: Reuse, Software Engineering

The need to cut costs and save time in systems development is leading
aerospace and defense engineers to use the Common Object Request Broker
Architecture (CORBA) standard to bind different software programming
technologies together.

The initial launch of the AlliedSignal CORBA project showed engineers in
the company's engines division can reduce costs by $750,000 per new
application by using a library of reusable CORBA software components. Of
the savings, Wayne Haughey of AlliedSignal states, "Every CORBA project
we start leverages our company's investment because our components avoid
a combined total of five to six man-years of development and
implementation effort."
