Hello all.

We're trying to develop "usable" file naming standards and are continually
coming up with undesirable solutions. We're developing under SCO UNIX
System V which has a fourteen character filename limit. In addition, we
are using SCCS for configuration management of the source files. SCCS
uses two of the fourteen characters.

Here are are filename requirements:

1. Filenames must be unique and not dependent on path.
2. Filenames should identify unit as specification, body, generic, separate,
    etc.
3. Filenames should be mnemonic. We don't want the programmer to have
to look up the filename in some table.
4. Wish item: Filenames should be compatible with DOS.

Any ideas? How are you dealing with System V filename constraints?

Thanks!
