FREE GNAT SUPPORT LICENSES
Topic: Ada
The Ada Joint Program Office (AJPO) has purchased a limited amount of GNAT
compiler support licenses that AJPO will make available, at no cost, to
qualifying DOD program managers, developers and trainers for DOD Ada 95
initiatives. Submission of a Customer Profile Statement describing the
Ada 95 initiative and government points of contacts will be used to judge
acceptance. Until the level of GNAT maintenance support demand is
identified, at this time, the AJPO contemplates furnishing support
licenses for up to 3 programmers per project. Ada Core Technologies
requires support licenses for all persons on the project who author or
modify Ada source code that will be passed through the Ada compiler.
To request a free allocation from the AJPO send the following information
to Gary Shupe at mailto:shupeg@ncr.disa.mil or U.S. mail at Center For
Computer Systems Engineering, Code JEXH, Attention: Gary Shupe, 5600
Columbia Pike, Falls Church, VA 22041-2717.

Topic: Software Engineering, Y2K
In his new book "The Year 2000 Software Problem: Quantifying the Costs
and Assessing the Consequences", Capers Jones offers a framework for the
effects of the Y2K problem. The book examines the expected results of
not achieving Y2K compliance and explains what it will cost to address
this issue, quantifying the expenses by country, industry, programming

NEW ADA GUI TOOL
Topic: Ada
UIM/Ada gives the Ada programmer access to the technology of UIM/X
to construct pure Ada user interfaces. UIM/Ada is fully integrated with the
OSF/Motif toolkit. Define user interface behavior from within UIM/Ada
by selecting from a pre-defined set of callbacks for mapping and unmapping
interfaces, popping-up menus, setting widget resources and other
functionality.
