DII COE LISTSERV UP AND RUNNING
Topic: DII COE

The DISA Computer Systems Engineering Information Clearinghouse (CSEIC)
has developed a DII COE Listserv. The DII COE Listserv provides an
unmoderated forum for COE developers and users to disseminate information,
share ideas and lessons learned, collaborate, and post questions and
answers.

Messages may be received through the user's e-mail reader, or, for those
who do not wish to subscribe to the listserv, messages may be viewed
through an organized archive on the CSEIC WWW site at:

To subscribe to the DII COE Listserv, send a message to:
        mailto:listproc@sw-eng.falls-church.va.us

ADA 95 AND THE AGE OF INTEROPERABILITY
Topic: Ada, Reuse

In the June 1997 edition of JOOP, Richard Riehle of AdaWorks Software
Engineering, examines the advantages of using Ada 95 in software
re-engineering efforts, and concludes:

"Ada is a language designed to maximize interoperability with other
languages. In the fast changing world of software, such interoperability
is becoming an essential language feature. This is true for both simple
code reuse and for interfacing to existing code during legacy code
re-engineering. Probably no other contemporary language design has taken
as much care in designing its facilities for interoperability as the 1995
Ada standard."
