ADA 95: THE LANGUAGE SPEAKS FOR ITSELF
Topic: Ada
In the May 1997 edition of Object Magazine, Robert Leif, Tom Moran, and
Randy Brukardt speak out against critics who claim that Ada is no longer
commercially viable. In their article, the authors cite the Ada successes
found in the Boeing 777 and commercial satellite systems, as well as the
recent commercial acceptance of Smalltalk (a language which pre-dates
Ada) as evidence that Ada 95 is still quite new.
The authors conclude by showing how Ada facilitates the development of
Windows applications; how software portability and interoperability are
ingrained in the Ada culture; and how the Ada Semantic Interface
Specification has taken Ada to a new level of portability.
