This conference is mostly bi-lingual, so it might be of a general interest.
Conferences by R. SOLEY (OMG) and M.A. JACKSON (SDC) will be given in English
and translated in French.

The aim of Objet 97 is to bring
together professionals working in the fields of software development
and corporate computer management to discuss the following topics:
State of the art technology and methodology.
Experiences, successes, failures.
Perspectives in the short and medium term.
The event will comprise the following:
A presentation of the state of the art and the main trends in this field by
internationally-renowned speakers from the world of industry and higher education.
This year's presentation will be by Richard Mark Soley (Object Management Group)
and Michael A. Jackson (Software Development Consultant).
Two round tables chaired by Jean B�zivin and Eric Simon covering the changeover from
"Relational to Object", and "development methods based on creation /transformation"
(Perspectives beyond UML ?).
A set of talks by professionals or users from industry and higher eduction.
Topics planned for discussion include:
- Methods : Prospect, Design Patterns, Unified Process, automation and hypergenericity,
Shlaer and Mellor's contribution to development.
- Open systems : ROOF, CORBA (workshop bus, interoperability), PalaTINAt
mediation platform, shared object applications.
- Languages : Ada 95, Smalltalk, Java.
- Migration/Experiences : Reuse, hypergenericity and Class- Relation, experiences in
automated documentation and administrative procedures.
An exhibition of service company offers and products.
OBJET 97 will take place in Brest at the ENST de Bretagne over 2 days, May 29 - 30.
300 to 500 software development professionals are expected to attend.

A) Objectif d'Objet 97:

L'objectif d'Objet 97 est de reunir :
les professionnels du developpement de logiciels et
les responsables informatiques
pour faire ensemble le point sur les questions suivantes :
Etat de l'art technique et methodologique.
Experiences vecues, succes, echecs.
Perspectives � court et moyen terme.
La manifestation comporte :
1) Une presentation de l'etat de l'art et des grandes tendances du domaine,
par des conferenciers de niveau international reconnus
tant dans le milieu industriel que dans le milieu universitaire.
Cette annee Richard Mark Soley (Object Management Group) et
Michael A. Jackson ( Software Development Consultant)
effectueront cette presentation.
2) Deux tables rondes animees par Eric Simon et
Jean Bezivin traiteront respectivement
- des SGBD Relationnels vs SGBD OO,
- "des methodes de developpement par elaboration/transformation"
(Quelles perspectives au-dela d'U.M.L. ?).

3) Un ensemble de presentations animees par des professionnels
ou utilisateurs issus des milieux industriel et universitaire.
