SBIR & STTR PROGRAMS ON-LINE
Topic:  Ada

The Department of Defense's (DoD) Small Business Innovation Research 
(SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs can now be 
accessed via the World Wide Web at:  
<http://www.acq.osd.mil/sadbu/sbir/homepg.htm>.  

The purpose of the DoD's SBIR and STTR programs is to harness the 
innovative talents of the nation's small technology companies for US 
military and economic strength.

The Web page also presents the new "Fast Track":  an opportunity for 
venture capital firms, large technology companies, and others to obtain 
matching funds of between $1 and $4 from DoD for every $1 they invest in 
small companies' technology projects.

AJPO ANNOUNCES ADA TOOLS LOANER PROGRAM WEB PAGE 
Topic:  Ada

The Ada Tools Loaner Program is now on-line.  Established by the Ada Joint 
Program Office (AJPO) and administered by the Idaho National Engineering 
and Environmental Laboratory (INEEL), the Program is a resource library 
of Ada software tools established to promote the development and use of 
Ada. These tools are available on loan to government organizations and 
contractors to allow them to thoroughly evaluate the technical merits of 
the tools currently available for Ada development.

REUSE STRATEGY FOR LARGE-SCALE LEGACY SYSTEMS
Topic:  Reuse

Barry McGibbon, in the April 1997 issue of Object Magazine, examines the 
best strategies for software reuse in large-scale legacy systems.  He 
discusses organizational models, reuse teams & team activities, reuse 
planning & program set-up, action steps, possible pitfalls, and critical 
success factors.  McGibbon also stresses that reuse is not a goal, but a 
means to an end.
