RATIONAL ROSE 4.0 SUPPORTS ITERATIVE PROCESSES
Topic: Reuse

The Rational Software Corporation's recently released Rational Rose
4.0 offers support for software engineering teams implementing
iterative processes. Iterative processes enable developers to
dramatically reduce risk in a project by exposing it early in the
lifecycle rather than at the end. Rational Rose 4.0 supports teams
implementing iterative processes by using round-trip engineering to maintain
consistency at each iteration between an application's visual model and
its implementation.

Rational Rose 4.0 will support controlled iterative development and
round-trip engineering for a variety of programming languages and 4GLs,
including Ada, C++, Visual Basic, Java, Forte, PowerBuilder, and Smalltalk.

DDC-I ANNOUNCES DACS-ASIS
Topic: Ada

DDC-I has announced the availability of DACS-ASIS -- the implementation
of ASIS 2.0F for the DDC-I Ada Compiler System (DACS-95). ASIS is the Ada
Semantic Interface Specification. Version 2.0 supports Ada 95, and
provides programmatic access to the semantic and syntactic information
contained in the Ada environment. ASIS is a set of Ada package
specifications that define over 400 functions or queries. These queries
are closely patterned after the syntax and semantics of Ada as defined
in the Ada 95 Reference Manual.

More information on ASIS 2.0 can be found on the Web at
<http://www.acm.org/sigada/wg/asiswg>.

DACS-ASIS is supported in part by the Ada Technology Insertion
Program-Partnership (ATIP-P).
