Hello, users of Meridian Ada 4.1 in MSDOS/PC-AT [clone] systems:

We are having trouble using the interrupts in MA4.1, and would like some
suggestions. Our general problem is to capture bytes of a serial data
stream being delivered to com1: of our PC. (We are building a data monitor
to test a serial output which will mix characters, binary data, multi-
byte elements, etc.etc.)

The prog. should: install the interrupt for com1:, respond to incoming-characte
r
interrupts by buffering the data bytes, get and display the data, exit on
operator keystroke, de-install the interrupt, and return to DOS.

We get the prompts for initial entry and completion of interrupt installation,
and no characters appear when we send them. When the operator calls for exit,
we get the exit prompt, but never return to DOS. It is necessary to recapture
the system via three-finger salute.

When essentially the same code is used without the interrupt, by reading the
port 'ready bit', the program works. Unfortunately, this won't be adequate
for the display activity we plan.

If anyone has used this feature, we would appreciate your advice. Thanks.

Regards --jmm--
