Small business office automation stuff mostly, linking in to other
apps.  Main library code approx 100,000 lines.

No problem.  Sorry I'm not so familiar with the jargon (what *is* a software 
metric?!), both me and my father are self-taught.  (I did astrofizzics
at university instead!)

Perhaps collect a metric e.g how many times you reply
 incorrectly via newsgroup instead of email and vice versa could help 
improve your process :-))
