The title of this thread takes on new meaning for me today.

I have just finished a fragmented first day at WAdaS. The hotel was an
excellent choice. Except for a glitch with my wakeup call, everything has
been great.

The Symposium (which I know doesn't "officially" open until Wednesday) so
far has been a mess. Given that, the registration folks have been
enormously sympathetic and that is worth something to me. My company
mailed my check on June 26, yet they didn't have me on their list. They
believed me and didn't charge me the late fee.

Meanwhile, what the h**l happened to "Using Ada in Multi-Language,
Multi-Platform Environments"? How come it was cancelled? That was my
choice for tutorials to attend. I was told that it was cancelled because
the presentation just was not ready. When did this decision get made - at
the last moment? I doubt it. So why did I have to find out about as I'm
trying to fix the registration snafu? Then they slipped in a new one
"Real-Time with Ada95". That looked interesting, but without any advance
description, I was taking a risk because my second choice was "Corba,
Orbix, and Ada95 Interoperability".

I can't speak for the 4 other attendees, but for me, "Real-Time with
Ada95" was a bad choice. It was very elementary. I managed to catch the
last half of the other one, and I think I salvaged my morning.

But the afternoon.... The best I could do was sit in on the second half
of "Web Technology for Conducting your Business" - a topic which is
related to Ada, but not exclusively. Most of the presentation had nothing
to do with Ada, which made me question why it was featured at an Ada
conference.

Hopefully, things will get better as the week proceeds. So far, I'm not
ready to recommend that we send somebody to this thing next year. Travel
budgets are limited, and I bet Tri'Ada is more worthwhile.
