there is a interesting paper about the above subject, it is located in
ftp://ftp.cs.rpi.edu/pub/stl/
file name is stl2ada.ps
paper by Ulfar Erlingsson and Alexander Konstantinou, CS dept. RPI.
dated January 1996.

Definitely worth reading! Ulfar and Alexander did a good job of
tackling the STL issue with Ada 95. I saw a few "improvement" areas,
but their paper was definitely a fair and unbiased analysis.
