- U.S. Defense Secretary Perry issued his Single Process Initiative in
December 1995! 
- The EIA/IEEE have published for trial use, the non-Government version of
MIL-STD-498, EIA/IEEE J-STD-016 in January 1996. 
- The DoD plans to cancel MIL-STD-498 at the end of this year (1996)! 
- The U.S. plans to "integrate" J-STD-016 into ISO/IEC 12207 and issue
"U.S. 12207."
