Technical Support Engineer

Rational Software Corporation is a growing $70 million software
development company, devoted to providing innovative software-engineering
products and services to customer who depend on the development and
evolution of software-intensive systems.

We are currently looking for a few exceptional people for our Software
Technical Support group.  A general profile would be someone with a solid
object-oriented software development background combined with good customer 
interface and problem solving skills.

Technically the ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of Unix, Ada, C, 
and some software engineering/support/teaching experience. Experience with
object-oriented design methodologies and C++ or Smalltalk development 
experience would be a strong plus.

The primary duties for this position include:

* Direct customer interaction (phone, e-mail)
* Diagnosis, isolation and resolution of technical problems
* Continual product and technology training


General personal qualities desired would be someone who is a quick learner, 
is constantly striving for improvement, is goal oriented, hard working, and 
dedicated.

This position will provide career growth and sharpen technical, diagnostic,
and communication skills.

Requirements
------------
	1. Bachelors degree in CS, Engineering, Mathematics (MS or PhD
           a plus)
	2. Knowledge of Unix and/or PC platforms
	3. Excellent Communication Skills
	4. Object-oriented software development experience 
           (Ada 95 / Smalltalk / C++ a plus)
        5. Knowledge of object-oriented design methodologies
        6. Excellent problem-solving skills
        7. Desire to learn new methodologies, languages, tools.
        8. Self-starter
        9. Customer oriented

Pay commensurate with experience and education.  Both entry-level
and experienced applicants will be considered for this position.
