Individuals rely on collective intelligence and "collective"
is always important, since human beings are social beings;
a project that will make an individual appear to be a loner is not
attractive (unless the individual wishes to be a lonesome hero
on her way to disrupt the market).

In any case, the solution to the perceptibility problem is easy:

1. Add a note to file README stating the software can be compiled
   on current systems, naming them.

2. Check in the new README which adds credible signs of project
   activity.
