Hi!

This project is not new, but new on the Web: today!

The Corporate Bullshit Generator is a random text generator that is
focused on corporate bullshit, producing 400 pages/sec of sentences
like "A balanced efficiency drives the enablers within the industry",
as meaningless as those from real people.

URL:  http://sf.net/projects/cbsg/

For the time being, only Ada sources, plus a GNAT project file, are
available in the SVN repository.
The goal is to compile it to the JVM and have a nice web applet.

Cheers

So that's where Scott Adams gets all his material.

Thank you for this awesome piece of engineering! You wouldn't know how
precious this tool will be for our teams to leverage synergies and
increase stakeholder awareness within a holistic win-win architectural
strategy!

I'll package it for Debian right away. That's how precious this is.

A future-ready emotional intelligence technically motivates the
perspective champion.

Yes, yes it does.

Thank you for this wonderful piece of software Gautier. :o)

I'm sending a patch that allows new gems like:

"Organizing principles result in the agile workflow, while our
operational efficiency credibly motivates the clients."

and

"Our agreed-upon baseline starting points enable the thought leader
using our replacement framework."

and

"The Executive Head of Internal Audit leverages the key performance
indicators."

ROTFL

My patch also corrects the congugation for verbs somewhat.

The Debian package for amd64 is at http://people.debian.org/~lbrenta :)

Ah, this needs to be internationally nationalized! :-)

The reemergence of EBITDA is particularly heartwarming.

In times like these, when Austrian Chancellor Faymann proudly explains
the logical consequence that putting dates and detail in a political
plan concerning energy and economy will entail for once the means to
check its outcome (Hurray!), we are justified in hoping that
sophisticated, knowledge producing algorithms would make up for
jaw-dropping void sounding from the TV set.

Is there anybody here who could help setting up a JVM applet (through
jgnat) with the CBSG and some HTML or JS code to have the applet
generating, say, an HTML frame or whatever in that fashion?
Indeed any solution with a button on web page titled "More bullshit,
please!" would be welcome.

Sorry, I've not used jgnat, but I was thinking about deployment.

Client side:
-----------
Assuming that jgnat's output is JARable bytecode, JApplet is a
reasonable choice, but an application distributed via Java Web Start
should work, too. Here's a hybrid example:

<http://sites.google.com/site/drjohnbmatthews/subway>

JEditorPane with setEditable(false) is a convenient container for
simple markup (~HTML 3.2).

<http://download.oracle.com/javase/6/docs/api/javax/swing/JEditorPane.html>

Server side:
-----------

If a hosted servlet container is available, here's a simple Java
servlet that sends the standard output of a command via an
HttpServletResponse:

<http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.java.programmer/msg/9fe6bb022349464b>

Hosted applications at SourceForge include Trac. I'm not sure if you
can add your own wiki macro or if gnat is installed; but here's an
example, analogous to the servlet above, that invokes fortune:

from trac.wiki.macros import WikiMacroBase
import commands

class FortuneMacro(WikiMacroBase):
    """ Return a random fortune. """
    revision = "$Rev$"
    url = "$URL$"

    def expand_macro(self, formatter, name, args):
        """ Return a random fortune. """
        fortune = commands.getoutput('/usr/games/fortune')
        fortune = fortune.replace('\n', '<br>')
        return fortune

<https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/sourceforge/wiki/Hosted%20Apps>
<http://trac.edgewall.org/wiki/WikiMacros>

Would writing to standard output, as is done in fortune, be a useful
default?

<http://linux.die.net/man/6/fortune>

Yes, I too wish to leverage functional enterprise content interactively!

LOL!

With (unfortunately) no help from Ada, the following appeared in my magazine
input today, concerning the take-over of T-Mobile by AT&T:

Columbia Urban League:
"This deal would help extricate barriers keeping our members from attaining
... benefits working towards the end of the digital divide."

and

GLAAD:
"The merger will increase functionality and speed, thus growing engagement
and improving the effectiveness of the online advocacy work that is
advancing equality for all."

One might wonder from where said barriers are being "extricated". Ex-Lax,
anyone?

Is there any reason this lovely application can't be linked with AWS and
form the perfect corporate intranet server?

I've thought about it; the only problem would be deployment on the
corporate servers :) Otherwise, patches are welcome :)

BTW, I've uploaded version 0.0.20110627-1 of this package to
http://people.debian.org/~lbrenta. This new version has a -1 option to
produce a single sentence of bullshit, suitable for use as a signature.
It also contains wide-spectrum improvements to its industry-standard
buzzword-compliance.  A killer app, I tell ya.
