3.15p is disappearing!

I just checked: 3.15p is no more on cs.nyu.edu, nor on its mirrors (at 
least the french one).

As long as the FUD is going on on GNAT-GPL, I think that someone should 
keep hosting it. Adapower and Adaworld, are you listening?

I have a file named gnat-3.15p-i686-pc-redhat71-gnu-bin.tar.gz lying 
around. There's no source code, and as it appears to be built for Red 
Hat 7.1 I suspect that at least tasking won't work right on a current 
Linux, but I'll make it available if you want it. (It's a bit big for 
email. :-) )

The GNAT distribution on cs.nyu.edu was removed between Tuesday August
09 at 05:30 GMT+2 and Wednesday August 10 at 05:30 GMT+2.

I noticed, because for over a decade each day at that time the
automatic mirror script for the Ada-Belgium ftp archive runs.  After
some checking what was going on, I have ensured that the mirror script
no longer tries to update our GNAT mirror.

The full GNAT 3.15p distribution, as was on cs.nyu.edu up to Aug 09,
is and will remain available on the Ada-Belgium ftp archive at
<ftp://ftp.cs.kuleuven.be/pub/Ada-Belgium/mirrors/gnu-ada>.

In addition, the "OLD" directory contains other binary distributions
that were at some time on cs.nyu.edu (e.g. for Solaris, HP-UX, AIX,
etc.), as well as the compiler source distributions from 3.10p on.

If there are other compiler/tools distributions that should be mirrored
feel free to contact me and I'll see what we can do.

It appears to probably be the original Linux AdaCore package (to my weak
knowledge). After some googling, I've found all the originals 3.15p files.

That's quite strange, as I don't have any problem to access the server
from work.

Moreover, many others don't seem to have a problem either: I see in
the log files that there have been 930 requests downloading a total
of 2821229.53 kbytes (2.69 Gbytes) from our gnu-ada mirror *in the
last full week* only.

Could it be a temporary problem on your side?

It's not just 3.15p that's gone. They appear to have pulled the kits for
other operating systems, regardless of version, as well.

For example, an old version, 3.12p, was available for VMS Alpha at:

	ftp://ftp.cs.nyu.edu/pub/gnat/private/old/openvms/

That directory no longer exists.

I saw your other post, and thanks for providing this service.

I just wanted to point out that kits for other operating systems, regardless
of version, have been pulled by NYU as well.

Does anyone know if this was done actually at the request of ACT ?
