Or perhaps the suppliers consider the average Ada programmer to be much
older than those using other languages?

If so, will we soon start seeing spam for hearing aids, walking frames
and retirement homes? :)

Or some sort of spam distribution software is attracted by the
female name Ada.

Or maybe it is just the sheer increase in traffic on this newsgroup in
recent months. Maybe some spammers' web crawlers took notice and
concluded that Ada is a hot new topic?

Before I gave up reporting these, I consistently got the brush-off
from the responsible ISP saying that the problem was that someone
has an email list feeding into comp.lang.ada. In general, spam
_software_ does not address newsgroups, so whoever is running that
email list is doing a lousy job of relaying _everything_ into the
newsgroup. By contrast, the email list feeding into comp.os.vms
is filtered (presumably with DNSbls) to keep out the spam.

Because it's directly gatewayed from the comp.lang.ada@ada-france.org
and comp.lang.ada@ada.eu.org mailing lists. Perhaps someone could
moderate the mailing lists, or at least filter the feed from the lists
to the newsgroup.

We must do something. This is something. Therefore, we must do this.
