Abstract:
LA AdaTEC is sponsoring this special dinner meeting as an opportunity for
members to mingle with many of our past speakers and catch up on their recent
developments. Wine and cheese will be provided courtesy of LA AdaTEC during
the cocktail hour. Awards will be announced at dinner. Elections of 1984-85
Officers will be held after dinner. Nominees are: Vice-Chairman - Mike Hogan,
Treasurer - Cheryl Chapman, Secretary - Carol LeDoux, Industrial Representative
Committee Chairman - Nancy Kim.
Herm Fisher, who enjoys both leadership positions in important industrial
associations and influence with government technology planners, will make
informal after-dinner comments which are meant to be challenging and
provocative. Herm will speak about:
1. The CODSIA (Council of Space and Defense Industry Associations) task
group on mission-critical computer resources: its recommendations
and how they effect Ada and Ada environments.
2. Martin/Mathis/Lieblein change their views towards industry's Onion
model for Industry-Government working groups (CSIWGs). Which
working group should you participate in? Where can you join one?
3. Ada Programming Support Environments:
CAIS (Common APSE Interface Set) vs. Unix
Why does Ichbiah support Unix instead of the CAIS, which was
developed by the KITIA? Home-grown Ada tools with standard Unix
utilities. Prolog and Symbolic Programming to build Ada tools.
Future AdaTEC Events:
June 30: LA AdaTEC's "Ada Fair '84", demonstrations & presentations of
Ada compilers, environments, design language processors, and
educational tools. Featured Presentations by Robert Firth
(Tartan Labs), Member of Ada Language Design Team, and Gerry
Fisher (IBM Thomas J. Watson Laboratory), National AdaTEC
Chair, DoD Distinguished Reviewer for Ada. More information
will follow in a subsequent flier.
July 30-Aug 1: National AdaTEC Meeting, Hyannis, Mass. Followed by CAIS
public review meeting on Aug 2, same site.
