Yeah, but a) Standard types are part of the language so they often get 
used, B) Saying "Don't do that..." when its already done doesn't really 
present a solution and C) Most programmers are of average to below 
average in skill level and experience so you have to make allowances for 
what they are *going* to do no matter how bad an answer it is. That's 
why I often argue for some of the "expedient" things like conditional 
compilation even if it isn't the "best" or most "pure" answer: It gives 
you a way of dealing with what *is* rather than what *should be*.
