As an Ada staffing specialist (since '89), my perspective of the Ada
employment market is far more optimistic than the flogging Ada gets from
its own community. Everyone wants to ignore the fact that several hundred
Ada Career Opportunities are available NOW! Below is a list of locations
that are currently staffing:

NH ( 20+ positions)
MA (Boston and northern suburbs, 40+ positions)
RI (40+ positions)
NJ (4 positions)
PA (2 positions)
MD (Baltimore area, 30 positions)
VA (5 positions)
NC (everybodys favorite locale - selective staffing in Ada ie: 2/3
positions)
FL (Tampa, area 5+ positions)
TX (Dallas 5+)
IN (Ft Wayne 40+ positions)

If anyone is interested in detailed information regarding the quality of
the software culture, stability/risk or compensation potential for the
above positions please send email or call:

What pissy places to work, except probably Dallas.

This is the Paul Morris who used to run a bucket shop in New Jersey,
and now has head down south.

Don't believe this dweeb -- he won't talk to you unless you cough
up what your current salary is, ie, most unprofessional.

What's that supposed to mean? Have you ever been to Fort Wayne, IN?

So !!!

When I have gone on interviews, I have always had to let the prospective
employer know what my current salary was. What's the difference?

I had to write something here, since Paul Morris helped me get the worse
job I have ever had (and I hope I never have to use a head hunter again).

I bet that some of these are for Group Technologies. If you are going
there ask me why I consider Tampa the Babylon of the US (just like the
Israelites looked upon Babylon just before they went into exile).

Try them, maybe you will have better luck than I did.

I've dealt with them before. They didn't seem any sleazier than any other
head-hunter agency (of course that isn't saying much). I didn't get a
job out of them, but I did get a free trip to Las Vegas.

A general piece of advice for anyone dealing with head-hunters:

1. Don't ever give them your work phone #.

2. Get an answering machine (to screen your calls).

3. Don't let them pressure you.

Come on Dave, some of us _liked_ contracting at Group. If your plan
is to make the big bucks or shmooze around the big conferences on
company money, it's the wrong place for you. If you want to work in
an environment where you can feel the immediacy of your decisions,
actually see a project from beginning to end, and are willing to work
hard for the satisfaction, then Group _is_ for you. I have done two
contracts there and may well go back again.

Well I guess if a professional tells that 13/50 states of the union are
pissy places to work, we have to take his word, after all he is a
professional right? :-)
