Ada was sparse at the Technology of Object-Oriented Languages and
Systems, TOOLS EUROPE '95 conference in Versailles, France this week.
Two Ada vendors showed up: Rational and Thomson [Alsys]. Both had
C++ development environments on very large monitors, but neither had
_any_ Ada products to demo.
One of the only two known Ada personalities there was Ed Schoenberg
(NYU and ACT) for a panel which finished early, titled "Multiple
inheritance issues". Professor Schoenberg showed up on stage looking
gnatty, in need of a shampoo, a haircut, and a necktie.
Of note was how and why Schoenberg even bothered to show up at the
conference in the first place: Rational and Thomson split the cost.
Europe is definitely not high on Ada, but rather on Eiffel.
