Actually, I know the package GNAT.Command_line, is spite of I am full newbie
in Ada (I'm learning it for two weeks)
Here is the quote from the GNAT user manual : "The package `Ada.Command_Line'
provides access to the command-line arguments and program name"
It fournishes facilities such as argument access you have in C, and
implementation of the "getopt" function.

I'am looking for something like GNU Readline. The following quote comes from
the readline manual : "utility which aids in the consistency of user
interface across discrete programs that need to provide a command line
interface"
It allows to offer to the user an command-line-like interface, such as you
have in a Shell (it may be the same code, in fact). It includes : command
history, binding to key strokes, and an easy configuration set.

For my own need, I've begun to build a binding to this library. But as I am
very lazy and coward I'd like to use another one, if available.

In the other case, would it be of interest to share it with the community ?

Sharing bindings to libraries and utilities is always of interest to the
Ada to the community, so by all means do release it when you're done. 
www.adapower.com is a good, centralized place to submit such software
for sharing.

At this time, taking answers to my question into account, it seems that there is
no Readline binding done.
So I'll work on it. it will be a fair exercice I guess.

I'm having some problems reading a file into a array.  Say the file
has the line
This is a test, how can i read each word of the file into a array? an
example would be helpful.

An array object in Ada is always a fixed size, so you have to have some
means of deciding how big to make your array. Since words in a text file
are different sizes, you're going to have to have array components that
can handle different size components.

Then there's the definition of a "word" in a text file. Many definitions
are possible. For example, is punctuation part of a word? One definition
of "word" is used by PragmARC.Word_Input (available from

Until you have dealt with these, it's difficult to be more helpful.

Don't bother.  Slurp the whole file into one big string and then 
parse and create an array of records containing indices to the 
first and last character of each word.  Write an access function 
that takes an index and returns the corresponding slice.

This is what I was playing around with.  How can I change it so that
it reads the file and each word is read instead of each character?  i
put character at the top because i wasn't sure what to put their.  I
will need something that checks for the whitespace inbetween the words
right?

ncurses can be linked against libreadline and ncurses comes with Ada-
support. But I don't know if you can use libreadline this way, I've
never tried it.

not really (libreadline has what looks like a suitable interface for
writing extensions, but none have been written afaik).
