Right.  But I need to write or find code that
goes the other way--instead of loading the XML
into a memory based DOM model, I need to write
the XML to a file.

To be more specific, I have to do:

--> ASIS --> info in memory --[a]--> XML file


but SAX and XML/Ada offer

XML file --> DOM model in memory --> user-written code

so I am looking for code that does transformation [a]
in a more logical way than what I already have.
