Of course, you might be able to fix the problem by simply
reordering the components. The soundest way to do this is via a
representation clause.

type Bubba_Type is record
   I : Integer;
   C : Character;
end record;

for Bubba_Type use record
   I : at 0 range 0..31;
   C : at 4 range 0..7;
end record;
