As a result of effort from Mr. Samuel T. Harris, Mr. Andreas Schulz
and Mr. David Botton and the generousity of Mr. Grady Booch (software
architect extraordinare,) I am pleased to announce that the Original
Booch Components are now available for Free at the Ada Power web site
(http://www.adapower.com/original_booch)

These components are those that were designed in the 1980's by Mr. Booch
using Ada 83. The fact that these components are also compilable as is
with the current, 1995, version of Ada is one more indication of one of
the benifits of using Ada in long-term projects.

I expect other adapted versions of these components, that take advantage
of "new" features of Ada, to be available at Ada Power in the future.
In particularly, one version (that will be the basis of new development)
that has all of component units as children of a root package named
Booch
and with each unit containing the most appropriate elaboration control
pragma is also available now. Another version that is supposed to allow
easier deployment of a subset of the components is also being discussed.

Finally, I would like to dedicate the Free release of these components
to all of the people at Ada Core Technologies for the extra effort that
they make in providing a public version of GNAT (the only Free Ada
compiler and tool chain) free to students and all other Ada enthusiasts.
