    I think that the DoD is in much better shape than the commercial
sector wrt Y2K.  However, the military does in fact have a much worse
problem.  Not only do many of their systems have to work on Jan. 1,
2000, they have to worry about contingency planning for all sorts of
eventualities encountered in the private, public, and government
sectors, plus overseas.   In other words, even if all DoD systems are
fine, and there are only isolated problems around the world, planning
groups may have a very busy night figuring out where help is needed and
can be provided.  (Such as potable water, portable generators, etc., the
normal hurricane or flood drill...)
