Workshop on Methods and Tools for Ada 95 
                     8 - 12 September 1997 in Brest 
 

  
                  Organized by Telecom Bretagne and TNI   
               Sponsored by Region Bretagne and Ada-Europe



This second edition of the `Workshop on software and methods and tools
for Ada 95' will be held in Brest, Brittany, France. Sessions, demos and 
tutorials will address distributed and real-time systems. We are fairly 
confident that you will find useful information and expertise during
this workshop.  Please note that the official language will be English.

Why you should attend this Workshop ?

   distribution. 

*  Meet the leading architects of GNAT (the GNU Ada compiler) and

Date and location

September 8-12, 1997 in Brest, France. This five day session will take
place
on the campus of ENST de Bretagne. The participants at the Workshop will
have access to workstations and will be able to experiment GNAT and Ada
95 related tools. The location of ENST by the seaside provides
outstanding opportunity to learn in a relaxed atmosphere.

The workshop speakers 
______________________
  

*  Lars ASPLUND, Department of Computer Systems, Uppsala University, 
   Sweden, is active within the fields of Neural Networks, Real-Time
   Systems and hardware implementations. The teaching and research at 
   the university is combined with industrial involvements through 
   Asplund Data AB, especially embedded systems based on Ada. He is
   chairman for Ada in Sweden and member of the Ada-Europe board.

*  Cyrille COMAR  is a member of Ada Core Technologies (ACT) and founder 
   of ACT Europe. He is one of the key architect of GNAT and has
   implemented the object-oriented features and its library model.

*  Robert Dewar  is Professor at New York University and President of 
   Ada Core Technologies (ACT).  He has been intensively involved in 
   programming languages and was a Distinguished Reviewer of Ada 95. 
   He has been involved in the design and implementation of the Alsys 
   Ada compiler. Now, he coordinates the activities around GNAT.

*  Pierre Dissaux  is products manager at TNI and carries out his 
   activities around HOOD.  TNI has produced  STOOD  which is a CASE
   tool for HOOD 4 and generates Ada, and C/C++ code. STOOD can now
   generate Ada 95 code.

*  Bertrand Dupouy is Assistant Professor at Telecom Paris and works 
   with real-time and embedded systems. He is in charge of the SPIF
   system.

*  Franco Gasperoni  is Assistant Professor at ENST, Paris and member of
   the GNAT team. His current interests are software engineering and
   internet programming.

*  Yvon Kermarrec  is assistant Professor at ENST de Bretagne in Brest. 
   He is a member of the GNAT team and is working on the design and
   implementation of the Distributed System Annex of Ada 95. His 
   research interests are distributed systems and platforms, OSF DCE 
   and software engineering.

*  Laurent Pautet  is assistant Professor at ENST, Paris and member of
   the GNAT team. His research interests include software
   engineering, distributed systems, and real-time systems.  He is
   currently participating to the implementation of the Ada 95   
   Distributed System Annex for GNAT.

*  Sergey Rybin is Senior Researcher at Moscow State University, Russia 
   and has been working on implementing ASIS (the Ada Semantic
Interface  
   Specification) for GNAT.

*  Ed Schonberg is Professor of Computer Science  at New York 
   University and is one of the founders of Ada Core Technologies .
   His research interests include the design and implementation 
   of programming languages, Software Engineering and programming 
   methodologies, and chamber music.

*  Joel Sherrill is one of the principal developers of RTEMS (Real-Time
   Executive for Multiprocessor Systems) and currently RTEMS Product
   Manager for On-Line Applications Research Corporation (OAR). He is
   the technical lead for the GNAT/RTEMS integration and validation
   efforts.

*  Samuel Tardieu is a PhD student at ENST, Paris and member of the GNAT
   team. His research areas include distributed, embedded and real-time
   systems. He is currently working on the implementation of the
   Ada 95 Distributed System Annex for GNAT (called GLADE).

*  Andy Wellings  is Professor of Real-Time Systems at the University of
   York, UK in the Computer Science Department.  He is interested in 
   all aspects in the design and implementation of real-time dependable 
   computer systems.  Professor Wellings teaches courses in Operating 
   Systems,  Real-time Systems, and Network and Distributed Systems. He 
   is the author of several books including "Concurrency in Ada" and 
   "Real-Time Systems and Programming Languages".

The fee includes one copy of workshop proceedings, social events,

Two social events are included in the program: 
 

A visit to Oceanopolis. "Prepare to see the sea as you have never seen
it before. The sea viewed from outer space from the surface and from the
depths. The flora, fauna and mysteries of the sea await you at
Oceanopolis. Come and make fascinating discoveries and spend moments of
pleasure, relaxing in an extraordinary environment which
reconstructs the undersea world".
 
A banquet Dinner  at the 'end of the western world' near
Le Conquet and Pointe Saint Matthieu.


Transport to Brest and ENST de Bretagne
_______________________________________

Air Inter Europe (subsidiary of Air France) operates flights between
Paris and Brest. It will take one hour to reach Brest. You can choose 
your  airport in Paris: Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle (two flights a day) and 
Orly (6 flights a day). Air Inter Europe offers discounts (up to 60 %)
to participants of the Workshop (ask us for a voucher).

BritAir operates flights between London and Brest and between Lyon and
Brest.  High Speed Trains operates between Paris Montparnasse and Brest. 
Travel time will be about 4 hours.
