My company webofficialy2k.com is trying to assist our customers with Y2K
compliance.
We know that the current "Industry Standard" of Y2K compliance for PCs'
is the NSTL standard which does not test for compliance in the RTC. Dell
computer in their admission that there is a problem at
http://www.dell.com/year2000/tools/rtctest.htm suggested that it might
be needed for "non-standard" software (whatever the hell that is).
We would like to find out if there are any programs that you as
programmers either wrote or know of that make a direct call to the Real
Time Clock. As programmers, you would be the only persons that would
know if this occurring.
We are trying to gather ammunition to force the large PC vendors to
admit to the Y2K deficiencies of the hardware they have sold in the last
few years and are selling now.
The problems these PC's have are easily corrected with a software fix or
ISA Plug-in Millenium Card, but people have not been told they need to
be fixed.
In addition we believe that there are peripherals or Real Time
Measurement analog devices which do make calls direct to the RTC.
If you know of any such programs or devices will you please e-mail the
particulars to keller1@webofficialy2k.com
Thanks very much
