While I found the Ada 83 rules for fixed point to be more complicated
than those of PL/I, they were understandable and the Alsys compiler that
we used for the Intel 80286 didn't seem to have any trouble handling
them. Not that we didn't run into compiler bugs, but they were mostly
minor and were in other areas. Maybe we just lucked out, but my
experience doesn't match Joe's.
