"Director of Software Excellence"

An excellent opportunity exists for a very senior director that will be
responsible for 150 plus people in Southern California. This is a position
with a major Aerospace client involved in large embedded realtime system
development.

The person they are seeking must have, or be able to secure a DOD
clearance. An SEI Level 3 or higher rating is highly desired.

Please contact me at (816) 507-7055 or email me at alwill@ix.netcom.com

Al at SDC.

All right, this has gone too far. How can a person possibly
have an SEI Level rating? Does this have something to do
with Watt's personal development process?

Hey, I've just done an extensive self-assessment
and my SEI rating is 7.3. Do I get the job?

Isn't "Software Excellence" an oxymoron?

Actually, I believe that what they mean is the SEI's (Software
Engineering Institute) CMM (Capability and Maturity Model) rating.

Ich glaube, das PSP-Modelle, gleich mit dem CMM vom SEI.
(Personal Software Process, Capability Maturity Model, Software
Engineering Institute).

Aber vieleicht nichts. Warscheindlich es bedeutet Ga Nichts, nuer
Quatsch!

In fact, it's almost as bad as my German...

I would think I would want the Director of Software Excellence to have work
in companies able
to reach SEI Level 4 or 5. Most companies I have work with have reached
level 3 and I think someone at the director level should have greater
knowledge, and real world experience, beyond that span.

How can you teach a child to dream if you've never tried it yourself? ;o)
