I replied by email, but since the newsgroup is read by many students it is worth perhaps replying with a post. When you are first learning a language in school, any language, and first trying to get it to work, it is quite likely that you will run into basic problems of understanding -- often caused by poor documentation, more often caused by not reading or not understanding the documentation. When you run into such problems, the place to turn is your instructor or, if available teaching assistants etc. It's not really appropriate to post a message to the newsgroup.. Just do some arithmetic. Probably there are thousands of students starting an Ada course this semester right around now. Let's guess 5000. Suppose 20% of them have trouble and need some help. Well if we had 1000 posts of questions like yours to the newsgroup, then certainly they would not get answered, and the newsgroup would get unusable. Wait till you have learned enough to ask questions that are of general interest, where it is worthwhile to post the question and the answers, and meanwhile read the newsgroup and learn (and also, if you have not already, go to www.adahome.gnat to learn all about Ada and Ada resources). Finally, why are you using Ada Ed? Why not use GNAT. At this stage Ada Ed is a historical curiosity ... It is a very limited interpretor for an obsolete version of the language. ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 3+ messages in thread
