The following is from a advertisement in the October 14, 1996 edition of
"Aviation Week and Space Technology", pg. 70, titled "New ACSL Products
Enhance PC Modeling Capabilities."
"MGA Software of Concord, Mass., is adding two new modules to its suite
of personal computer-based real-time simulation and design products....
One of the new modules, ACSL Code, will allow users to generate machine
[actually, C] code from modeling and simulation conducted with related
products.... The resulting code could be used in embedded controllers or
hardware-in-the-loop testing. ACSL Code uses technology developed by
Honeywell under a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA)
program. MGA and Honeywell are developing the module jointly, Honeywell
'knew what they needed and how to build it,' MGA President Michael
Gauthier said. 'But they didn't know how to commercialize it.' Because
it was developed with DARPA money, the Honeywell program was written in
Ada. 'We ended up rewriting it in C. We were able to reuse whole
algorithms,' he said. The program should be released this fall."
