Subject 1 Abstract: Bob Leif will speak on an article in the May 1997
Object Magazine that he coauthored with Tom Moran and Randy Brukardt, "Ada
95 The Language Speaks for Itself". He will extend the subject matter of
the article describing his preliminary steps in object oriented financial
programming. An example of the use of decimal types to represent money
will be given. The problem of integrating generics with tagged types will
be discussed. The new GRASP Editor will be demonstrated.

Subject 2: The talk will be followed by an election of officers. At
present SigAda has two candidates:

Robert C. Leif, Ph.D. for Chair
Lyn Henderson for Vice Chair

We need candidates for Treasurer and Secretary. It should be emphasized
that any member of San Diego SigAda is eligible to run for any of the four
offices.

The duties of the officers are as follows:
The Chair obtains the speakers, runs the meetings, sends out the e-mail
meeting notices, interfaces with national SigAda and ACM, and brings the
Pizza or equivalent.

The Vice Chair replaces the Chair when he or she is absent and is
responsible for securing the meeting room.

The Secretary helps the rest of the officers with the paper work and mails
the meeting notices to members who specifically request them.

The Treasurer is responsible for collecting the dues and dispersing money
for the expenses.

The membership can modify the duties of the officers. Anyone can suggest a
speaker and coordinate obtaining the speaker, providing the speaker is
acceptable to the officers. The officers have been and will be reasonable
in this regard. In fact, in the last three years, we never turned a
volunteer down.

This is your Ada group. One of the best ways to avoid a professional life
programming in C or one of its dialects is to join and help with SigAda.
