Since there has been some discussion of the differences and similarities of ADA
and APL recently on this NG, The following might be of interest.

NY/SIGAPL announces the tenth APL as a Tool of Thought seminar.  It will be
held from 8am to 5pm on Saturday, 31 January 1998 in the Howe Center building
at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ.  There will be a variety
of speakers on topics associated with the APL, J, and related programming
languages. A  box lunch will be served, and is included in the price. Printed
Proceedings and Programs will be provided. The registration fee is $50 for
members of NY/SIGAPL, or of ACM, and $60 for non-members.  Full-time students:
$20.

There will be keynote addresses by Eric Baelen, of APL2000 on How to Succeed
with APL, and Gary Bergquist, of Zark on The Future of APL (in the Insurance
Industry).

Armstrong on Low Down Objects; Phil Benkard on OOP in APL; Bob Bernecky on
Compiler Design for APL; Gary Bergquist on An APLers Survival Guide to Windows;
Chris Burke on J: Life After the Workspace; Brian Chizever on GUI Application
Design; Richard Krafchin on How I use APL; Devon McCormick on Bayesian
Statistics and Dynamic Linear Models for Financial Forecasting; Eric Iverson on
OOP in J; Jan Karman on "Pendies for Lops" (Pension Fund Information); Stephen
M. Mansour on Non-looping Algorithms for Mortgage Cash Flows;   Fred Waid on
Network Chat Client & Other Network-aware Applications; and possibly others.
