Subject: Can I SUBST to a CD-ROM?

I'm a registered user of 4DOS, which I run exclusively
instead of COMMAND.COM. Therefore, I don't know if my
question is specific to 4DOS, or would apply to DOS as well.
I want to type SUBST E: D:\BIN, where D is my CD-ROM
drive, and the CD-ROM has a BIN subdirectory directly under
the root. I get the message "Cannot SUBST a network drive."
I'm not connected to a network; SUBST just *thinks* my
CD-ROM is a network drive.
Is the SUBST possible, or am I out of luck? I'm running
Win 95 and 4DOS 5.52A. Thanks!
