Is their any way to terminate character input without a LF? I'm
trying to make the input such that after x number of inputted characters,
the function automatically terminates.

I have tried manipulating the file_support.file_record (is this
standard?) and have used the file_support.getchar function for input but
this is limited; from dissection, the routine still relies on the LF (no
meaningless character data has to be entered though)

 Any information would be appreciated,

						    Mike

We can't help because we have no idea what you are talking about. What
compiler? What operating system? What version of Ada? The question you
are asking is highly dependent on the answers to these questions.

I'm using the verdix ada compiler ver6.2 on IRIX 5.2 (sgi). I didn't
bother with this info because I thought ada was easily portable (with the
exception of system-specific info).
