Subject: Ada Pretty Printers in the ASR
Date: 22 May 93 15:15:11 GMT	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <1993May22.111511.7122@sei.cmu.edu> (raw)

There have been several questions about Pretty Printers recently.
This may provide some answers.

Pages 14.18 to 14.22 of the Ada Software Repository Master Index
(Oct 1, 1991 version) identify the FOUR Ada Pretty Printers in the ASR.
These pages also identify the support files located in other directories
which are needed to compile them.

The pretty printer that I prefer of these four is the one from NASA
(Pretty Printer 4). I compiled it and used it on both PCs and VAXen.
While it did not totally satisfy me (I currently use the pretty printer
provided with my Alsys Ada compiler on the PC), it did a fair job.
Note that <MSDOS.ADA> contains a ready-to-run executable for Pretty Printer 4
for the PC.

I can't emphasize enough how much easier it is to work with the ASR
if you download the Master Index or one of the database files (which can
but processed with Lotus-1-2-3 or dBase IV or most any other database
manager). It took me less than a minute to pull down the Master Index
hardcopy and find the four Pretty Printers in the table of contents.
