While your re-posting of our comp.newprod announcement occurred before we
posted the pointer in comp.lang.ada, because of the delays inherent in
USENET news your re-posting article did not arrive at this site until 12
hours after we had posted the pointer.

In my opinion it does not. I reviewed the AJPO guidelines before the
original posting was made and decided comp.newprod was the right place to
put it, but that we could put a pointer to it in comp.lang.ada. I waited
until after it appeared to comp.newprod to post the pointer (it is hard to
predict how much delay there will be when you go post an article to a
moderated group).

I don't recall exactly what he said, but as an Ada vendor I don't think it
is appropriate for us to attempt to enforce the guidelines. We simply
trying to follow them, if other vendors or businesses choose to ignore them
that doesn't make it OK for us to do so.

The INFO-ADA mailing list is not moderated, there is no moderator to enforce
the guidelines. Also, the AJPO guidelines are not well known, there is no
reference to them in the FAQ and they aren't periodically posted to INFO-ADA
(as far as I know). So there is little compliance, a lot of people think
they should be relaxed (that is also my personal opinion) and choose to
ignore them. But until the guidelines are changed, we will continue to try
to follow them.

>I have to admit I joked a little about Alsys' trying to kiss off Ada.

Humorous comments are traditionally marked with a smilie :-) on USENET, that
particular comment wasn't. I assumed that it was just an error and everyone
would know that the thread you were indirectly referring to was about
Verdix.

I'm sure everyone must be getting tired of this discussion by now, if
there's more to be said on this, let's take it to email.
