No such luck. The closest thing would be Ada/Ed, but there's no Mac
version (yet). Meridian's Mac system is $129., with MPW included in
the bundle (this is the academic price). It's more than free, but
it's not a crusher either. And it has a decent Mac Toolbox binding.
No binding to the System 7.0 goodies yet, but Meridian's working on that.

It may be unlikely, but it's happening. RMS is working closely with the
NYU folks on GNAT, and NYU is doing nothing without his agreement. How
Dewar obtained RMS's agreement to the Mac port I don't know; what I do
know is that Dewar reports having obtained it.

Is this really likely given the FSF antipathy to Apple? Do the GNAT
implementors feel bound by RMS request to boycott Apple and not
support GNU software on Apple?

Interesting question. I'm not sure whether NYU per se will do the Mac
port, but there will undoubtedly be a port, if for no other reason than
there are so many Macs in education. There is a gcc for the Mac.

Stallman must be in a bit of a quandary: the FSF side of him wants to
see dispersion of free software as widely as possible; the LPF side of
him wants to boycott Apple.

In response to my claim that the GNAT Project at NYU, which is
implementing an Ada compiler to be part of the FSF distribution, will
include a port to the Macintosh, emagnuso@halcyon.com (Erik Magnuson)

I am looking for an Ada compiler for a SUN 4/460 running SunOS 4.1.2
Right now the computer science dept only has one real Ada compiler, and that
is version 5.2 of Verdix on a MicroVaxII... We do have NYU-Ada on the
SUN, but that is very limited... Because our department is mostly based
on Ada now, we need a REAL compiler...
If someone is moving to a new compiler and can sell their old one,
or knows where we can buy a new one for a reasonable price with educational
discounts etc please let me know...
Thanx for all your help in advance...

Alsys has educational (big) discounts on their compilers.
Tel: (617)-270-0030 ask about the "LEAP" program.
