Coincident with the discussion here on "tools," Aviation Week has a short
article in it's "Electronic Intelligence" summary.
Reproduced from June 24,1991 Aviation Week & Space Technology, p. 61:
"Ada, the Defense Dept. mandatory computer language for all new electronic
systems, has spawned a substantial industry to develop tools and software
for computers and microprocessors using the new language. The Ada industry
had a difficult year financially in 1990, but appears to be recovering in
1991, according to a report published by Focused Ada Research, in Falls
Church, Va. The report forecasts 20% growth rate by 1992, spurred by Ada's
use in commercial avionics and factory automation systems in addition to
military systems. Work on the new Air Force F-22, the Army RAH-66
Comanche, and updates to older aircraft also will contribute to the growth
in Ada business."
Any typos are mine, the rest is Aviation Weeks :-)
