I'm managing a software development project in Ada. The software will be
heavily dependent on the use of X-windows. My contractor mentioned he had
no Ada to X-windows interface as of yet, and so had to write a little test
program in C. He mentioned he was looking into an Ada-to-X-windows interface,
but doesn't have one yet.

Would anyone out there mind recommending to me any Ada-to-X interfaces?
My contractor will surely have his own in mind, but I'd like to and "independen
t"
source of information to compare his solution to. Thanks.

You didn't mention the vendor of your Ada compiler or what machine you are
targeting, but Verdix has an Xlib interface for the Sun-3 and SPARC systems.
I'll quote their product information:

"Verdix is now offering an Ada binding to Xlib on Sun-3 and SPARC systems. The
VADS X11R4 Xlib/Xt Ada binding is a set of packages founded on the public-doma
in SAIC and Unisys Ada bindings obtained through the STARS project. Verdix has
improved upon the public domain release by fixing bugs, testing the interface
with VADS, providing documentation and demo programs, and offering full support
and product upgrades. Customers who purchase the Xlib binding from Verdix wil
l also receive the Xt intrinsics and

a public domain widget set when they are released. Verdix also plans to offer
an implementation of MOTIF. Openlook support is already provided through an XV
iew interface."

This information is from a new product brochure circulated last Feb-March.
For further information, the point of contact given is John Stewart at 703-37
8-7600. I hope this is of some help to you.
