No, but it was created on a system which used TTY 33s as the input devices
and, as a consequence, the language and the associated OS (eunuchs) had a
premium placed on short names... This was also the origin (or so I have
been told) for Unix using only linefeed, instead of the more conventional
CR/LF. A CR required a 250 ms timing loop and this would slow down the
input device (a glass TTY).
