Nothing is becoming worse you are just looking at different things.
What about the debug info?
Which compiler options have you used?
Have your used inlining?
Since when "bigger size" means worse?
Have you looked at the actual code size (.text section)?
Have you benchmarked the actual code speed?
What is the price of the disk today compared to 10 years ago?
