Thank you everyone for the responses. To clear things up - I am really
only using the 64 bit unsigned integers since it is defined in my
project spec as a requirement. This is more of an acedemic program,
not so much for practical use. I'm counting the number of 'on' bits in
any 64 bit unsigned integer and returning if there is a prime number
of them or not, as part of the requirement.

I've used the suggestions you guys have had and now have it working
the way I'd like.  Thanks again, you guys are always very helpful!
