During November and December, I had an opportunity to evaluate the Sun
Fire T1000, which has 8 cores with 4 strands per core, making it
appear to be a 32 CPU machine. My application used GNAT with lots of
long-lived threads. You can read my report at http://www.grebyn.com/t1000
- it was impressive enough that I actually WON the evaluation system
from Sun in their Open Performance Contest (see http://www.sun.com/
tryandbuy/prm/perf/winners.jsp for other winners - primarily web
servers, databases and other transactional systems).
