Some compilers may be written in C++. Many (including GNAT) are written in
Ada.

Not at all true. Most Ada compilers are written in Ada. Only the so called
bootstrap compilers are written in other languages - mostly C not C++
because a bootstrap compiler need to be as universal as possible.
