Hi Ada people,

The truth on Ada jobs in America and internationally.
Again, I was doing some researching and found out a few things 
for the curious at heart. BASIC is still going strong in America
with MANY jobs for those programmers. COBOL and RPG are also very
comfortable for IBM-machine programmers - pushed by IBM's support. C/C++ is
always there. Ada95 is a big job benefit. Nothing for Dylan and Oberon.
Pascal programmers are still highly marketable. The main thing is to
complete your college degree (in computer science/engineering/MIS) and
to know at least two computer languages (Ada95/Visual BASIC). What
many Human Resource personnel don't realize is that you can get an associate
degree and have 5 years of programming experience. This is something to
think about with many college recruiters and non-working programmers.

If you're going to college: pick BASIC first and then some harder language.
Pascal is also a good starting place to get your feet wet. C/C++ is good
to know in your spare time, but keep your beady eyes on Ada95--the future.
One you know at least two or three computer languages then you hang your hat
and finish your education by taking a lot of math courses. Mostly, take
a class on algorithm designs. Join a good organization like ACM or
IEEE-Computer Society or even ICCP, and study your computer languages.
If you want to be a sidekick programmer then just study Visual BASIC and
get a degree in some computer related field. Its better than working at
a fast food restaurant! ALWAYS take college classes or job seminars on
programming to stay up to speed. Let yourself have the flexibility
of travel and you will always have a job.

Second, you will find nice job opportunities in Europe, UK, Spain, India.
South Africa also needs programmers, but from what I gather they are using
GeoWorks on many computers (its a small OS to use on anything). If you like
Geoworks and think C/Ada porting is for you then you'll get your
ride to Africa. India is a major programmer's paradise, along with Saudi
Arabia (Saudi Aramco). Take the time to invest in networking with the
various organizations and you'll have fun. 

I am sure Japan is picking up the market too. Tell your family that
you are an international programmer, and get ready for the cash to come
rolling in (or so they say).
