Anybody cares? Well, I checked all my sources carefully, and none of them write out a million integers in a tight loop, so no, I do not care. Benchmarking compilers is very useful but also very difficult to do right, especially if you want to compare different languages with different compilers. To get an idea you can find on my homepage a package that contains a number of small "standard" benchmarks such as dhrystone, whetstone, etc. in both their C and Ada incarnations. Notice here the attempt to make sure that the compiler switches for the different languages are as equivalent as possible. -- -- Jerry van Dijk | email: jvandyk@attglobal.net -- Leiden, Holland | web: users.ncrvnet.nl/gmvdijk
